Our New Land

Today – June 14, 2018 – is one of the most awesome days of our lives (besides our wedding and babies being born)!!!  Today we FINALLY closed on our land and we are thrilled to be able to share the news!  Back in December 2017, we shared our first blog post about the beginning of our journey.  Since that time, we have gone through the long process of getting to this day.

For us, it is really special because if you are keeping count, it has taken us SIX MONTHS to [Read more…] about Today, The Land Became Ours

Our Journey: An Update To Our Update

May 2, 2018 By Deidra

land
Hope, prayers, fingers, toes, and eyes crossed!

So, just to check in on our update…

It’s been a while, and if you’ve been following our journey, you know that we’ve set our eyes on a piece of raw land. In our update post, we talked about how a housing offer that fell through led us to finding a piece of property that we thought we’d make our own. We were in the process of going though our “Due Diligence” – checking boundaries, soil testing, appraisals..and everything was checking out one by one until… [Read more…] about Our Journey: An Update To Our Update

So, you’ve decided, you’re ready to start this homestead journey and for you, it’s going to require a bit more space. You let yourself imagine being on property with enough space to do all of your homesteading dreams – or what you can afford to do at the moment. Can We Talk: Illness On The Homestead

March 12, 2018 By Deidra

Mug And SteamCan we talk? No really. Go grab some tea, coffee, water, wine or a cold one, get comfy and settle in. This is going to be long, but I think worth the read…Ready? Ok.

Sickness. It’s a part of life. There will be a percentage of us that won’t see more than a little cold. But there are others, like me, that will be diagnosed with a chronic illness that changes our lives one way or another. Maybe we have to change the way we eat, sleep, exercise, or just participate in life in general. Either way, chronic illness brings both change and sometimes uncertainty. Why Appraisals Matter

February 28, 2018 By Antoine

Land AppraisalWhen you are going through the land/home purchasing process it can be quite a tall task.  There are many things to do and many items you need to keep on your mind.  One of these things is the Appraisal.  For those of you who have purchased a home or land before, you may be familiar with it and understand why you need one.  For those who are new to buying property, I want to share with you what we have learned while on our journey.

First and foremost, I am not a real estate agent or loan officer, so I speak only from personal experience.  We have purchased a home in the past, but we have never purchased raw land.  You would think that it would be the same as buying an existing home, [Read more…] about Why Appraisals Matter

Or, did we want raw land and build? There were a lot of twists and turns, ups and downs and I want to bring you all up to speed. [Read more…] about Our Journey – An Update
