spraying herbicide$289 million dollars. I’ll say it again, two hundred, eighty-nine million dollars. This is what one man was awarded from a lawsuit he won against Monsanto. Although, he may only see $20 million of it due to taxes and fees, that is neither here nor there. It’s a very small consolation for his life since he’s dealing with terminal cancer. Thanks to him and this case, it was enough to make people start [Read more…] about What is Glyphosate and Why You Should Care

I’m BACK! With Golden Paste Too….

April 14, 2018 By Deidra

Hey guys! After a short break, I’m back! If you remember, my very last post, “Can We Talk: Illness On The Homestead“, I was talking about having a plan when things get a lil squirrely and someone gets sick on the homestead. I had just gotten out of a short vacation at Chateau D’ Hospital and felt that was a pretty interesting topic to talk about. Well, afterward everything went great….for about two weeks. Then I checked back in again – same symptoms, same treatment, same answer – “we don’t know what’s happening”. Anyway, here I am and by God’s grace I bounced back quickly – still standing. We still don’t know what happened, but sometimes you have to just look to the sky, say “Thank You” and not be worried about it. I’m alive and that’s all that matters. Anyway, I took a break from writing for a bit, but not from life for sure! [Read more…] about I’m BACK! With Golden Paste Too….

Can We Talk: Illness On The Homestead

March 12, 2018 By Deidra

Mug And SteamCan we talk? No really. Go grab some tea, coffee, water, wine or a cold one, get comfy and settle in. This is going to be long, but I think worth the read…Ready? Ok.

Sickness. It’s a part of life. There will be a percentage of us that won’t see more than a little cold. But there are others, like me, that will be diagnosed with a chronic illness that changes our lives one way or another. Maybe we have to change the way we eat, sleep, exercise, or just participate in life in general. Either way, chronic illness brings both change and sometimes uncertainty. Aloe: The Plant That Loves Neglect

March 6, 2018 By Deidra

My darling, Mr Green Thumb, can grow anything. He’s much like how his dad was – he can take something that was almost dead and spring it back to life. I, on the other hand, am Mrs. Brown Thumb. I kill stuff. Growing plants is just not my thing. I’ve tried before and failed miserably…except!

Aloe.

Aloe Vera Plant
Aloe “pup” happily being neglected.

I LOVE the Aloe Vera plant. Mainly because I can completely forget about it and it not only survives, but thrives. Seriously, it is the only thing in my house that I can completely ignore and it prefers it that way. Imagine that! The more I neglect it the more it loves me. We’re a match made in heaven. I started off with one plant and now I have four. I had five, but I gave one to my sister who is also a serial plant killer. I think the plant I gave her will be happy there LOL. Cheap, Easy, and Homemade Veggie Broth

February 27, 2018 By Deidra

tree bloom
This is minor. Some trees have gone full bloom!

It’s that time of year again, although it’s not suppose to be. Pollen is in the air and the house natives are feeling it. So, broth to the rescue! I usually make bone broth, but we have no bones I’d want to use. Instead, I have a bunch of vegetable scraps I’ve been saving. And this isn’t just for sickness. You can use this for any thing you need to cook involving a broth. So, here’s the recipe for my frugal and super easy veggie broth. [Read more…] about Cheap, Easy, and Homemade Veggie Broth
