The Lion’s Mane Mushrooms Project – Update

July 2, 2018 By Antoine

Lion's Mane Log UpdateHey everyone. I just wanted to give you all a quick update on our Lion’s Mane Mushroom Project.  If you recall back in April of this year, we went to one of our favorite gardening stores and purchased a log that was inoculated with Lion’s Mane mushroom spores.  Prior to this neither myself or Deidra had any experience with growing mushrooms [Read more…] about The Lion’s Mane Mushrooms Project – Update

Today, The Land Became Ours

Our New Land

Today – June 14, 2018 – is one of the most awesome days of our lives (besides our wedding and babies being born)!!!  Today we FINALLY closed on our land and we are thrilled to be able to share the news!  Back in December 2017, we shared our first blog post about the beginning of our journey.  Since that time, we have gone through the long process of getting to this day.

For us, it is really special because if you are keeping count, it has taken us SIX MONTHS to [Read more…] about Today, The Land Became Ours

PVC Pipe Laundry Hamper

June 5, 2018 By Antoine

Hey Fam, it’s been a while since our last post.  We’ve definitely been dealing with life-stuff again, but ’tis life.  So, today I wanted to share with you all a quick PVC project that I put together back in 2014.  Up until that point, we all just tossed our clothes (separated by colors) into the same three hampers that we had in our room.  As the kids grew older, I wanted them to have their own hamper in each of their rooms and we needed a solution.  However, I thought why buy one when you can disassemble what you have and be creative?! My First Attempt at Hydroponics

May 17, 2018 By Antoine

Bok Choy In Grow BucketMy very first attempt at hydroponics…smh.  It was not good at all.  It was pretty sad in my opinion, but like all newbies, we live, we learn, and we grow (see what I did there?).  However, I just wanted to share with you my mistakes, so that you do not make the same ones. The Lion’s Mane Mushrooms Project

April 16, 2018 By Antoine

This past weekend, we decided to start a new project.  Well, it wasn’t a planned project, it just kind of spontaneously happened after visiting one of our favorite gardening stores.  Below is a video of how we are getting started.

Stay tuned as we update you guys.  If you have grown mushrooms before, especially this type, please let us know.  We’d love to hear from you.

UPDATE – July 2, 2018:

Be sure to hope on over to lion’s mane project update, to read about what’s been happening with the project.

Starting Seedlings Indoors And My Rookie Mistake

April 12, 2018 By Antoine

It’s spring.  The birds are chirping outside.  The pollen is flying everywhere making EVERYTHING yellow!  The grass is growing back. When you go to some stores, they have brand new plants out there ready for you to take home to toss into your garden.  Yep, it’s that time of the year to start planting if you are starting from seed.  For me, I felt like everything was passing me by as I had not started anything (even though you can start plants throughout the growing season). I had to do something and I needed to do something now! [Read more…] about Starting Seedlings Indoors And My Rookie Mistake

Introduction to Hydroponics

Introduction To My Hydroponic System
My Hydroponic System, Version 3.0

Hello, hello, hello! Today is a fun one for me as I get to dive into the gardening section of blogging, specifically with a focus on Hydroponics. If you are close to the gardening world, it may seem to be all the rage now-a-days. It is a really cool way to grow and is great because it uses a lot less water than a traditional soil garden. It is not a silver bullet or a replacement form of growing, but rather an alternative.  With that being said, if you have never heard of it before, I hope this introduction will give you a better understanding of hydroponics.
