For a long time, Deidra, kept hinting at wanting a something to speed up the chopping of vegetables. I mean I thought we were doing fine, seeing as many times we help each other to cook. However, there are times when we needed to speed up our chopping. So, one day I went online with the help of the wife and found the food processor below:
The Hamilton (70730) Beach Food Processor & Chopper
In our home, this is known as the “Whirly Gig”. I have no idea why, but Deidra referenced it as such and it stuck. So, whenever we need the food processor, we might say things like, “…hand me the Whirly Gig” or “…have you seen the blade to the Whirly Gig?” It’s our own speak, but it works!
This food processor chopper comes with:
- A blade that can both slice and shred
- A stainless steel “S” blade for chopping, blending, & pureeing
- A bowl scraper that works when using the “S” blade (I think this is one of Deidra’s favorite features)
We use this for things such as: slicing vegetables, cutting block cheese, making oat flour (check out our Banana Oatmeal Buttermilk Pancake recipe), blending tomatoes for tomato sauce and puree, and making Homemade Mayo. It has definitely been a reliable little device. The cool thing is that it isn’t the most expensive on the market, but it does exactly what we need it to do.
