So You’re Ready For Some Property – Are All Realtors Equal?

April 28, 2018 By Deidra

for sale DISCLAIMER:  We are not realtors. We are just sharing what we’ve learned with you.

So, you’ve decided, you’re ready to start this homestead journey and for you, it’s going to require a bit more space. You let yourself imagine being on property with enough space to do all of your homesteading dreams – or what you can afford to do at the moment. If you’re anything like us, you could be thinking, “Good grief, where do I start?” One thing you might decide to do is find a realtor. But, should you just use any realtor? I mean, you met your mom’s friend’s sister once. And she’s so nice! Maybe you should just go with her – right? [Read more…] about So You’re Ready For Some Property – Are All Realtors Equal?

The Lion’s Mane Mushrooms Project

April 16, 2018 By Antoine

This past weekend, we decided to start a new project.  Well, it wasn’t a planned project, it just kind of spontaneously happened after visiting one of our favorite gardening stores.  Below is a video of how we are getting started.

Stay tuned as we update you guys.  If you have grown mushrooms before, especially this type, please let us know.  We’d love to hear from you.

UPDATE – July 2, 2018:

Be sure to hope on over to lion’s mane project update, to read about what’s been happening with the project.

I’m BACK! With Golden Paste Too….

April 14, 2018 By Deidra

Hey guys! After a short break, I’m back! If you remember, my very last post, “Can We Talk: Illness On The Homestead“, I was talking about having a plan when things get a lil squirrely and someone gets sick on the homestead. I had just gotten out of a short vacation at Chateau D’ Hospital and felt that was a pretty interesting topic to talk about. Well, afterward everything went great….for about two weeks. Then I checked back in again – same symptoms, same treatment, same answer – “we don’t know what’s happening”. Anyway, here I am and by God’s grace I bounced back quickly – still standing. We still don’t know what happened, but sometimes you have to just look to the sky, say “Thank You” and not be worried about it. I’m alive and that’s all that matters. Anyway, I took a break from writing for a bit, but not from life for sure! [Read more…] about I’m BACK! With Golden Paste Too….

Starting Seedlings Indoors And My Rookie Mistake

April 12, 2018 By Antoine

It’s spring.  The birds are chirping outside.  The pollen is flying everywhere making EVERYTHING yellow!  The grass is growing back. When you go to some stores, they have brand new plants out there ready for you to take home to toss into your garden.  Yep, it’s that time of the year to start planting if you are starting from seed.  For me, I felt like everything was passing me by as I had not started anything (even though you can start plants throughout the growing season). I had to do something and I needed to do something now! [Read more…] about Starting Seedlings Indoors And My Rookie Mistake

Introduction to Hydroponics

Introduction To My Hydroponic System
My Hydroponic System, Version 3.0

Hello, hello, hello! Today is a fun one for me as I get to dive into the gardening section of blogging, specifically with a focus on Hydroponics. If you are close to the gardening world, it may seem to be all the rage now-a-days. It is a really cool way to grow and is great because it uses a lot less water than a traditional soil garden. It is not a silver bullet or a replacement form of growing, but rather an alternative.  With that being said, if you have never heard of it before, I hope this introduction will give you a better understanding of hydroponics.
